A biopsy is a quick and simple procedure that is usually done in the doctor’s consult room. A small amount of local anaesthetic injected in the area before procedure.
There are two types’ skin biopsies
Excisional biopsy which is complete removal of the lesion with a margin.
Punch/Shave Biopsy which a small piece of tissue from the spot to be tested.
Stich may be used to close a larger biopsy site and sample is sent to pathology for confirmation of diagnosis.
